Ask a Neurologist
16.07.2008 - Travelling with Betaferon medication
- Question:
My wife is under Betaferon treatment and we are scheduled to have a 15 days holiday to Tenerife next August.
We are a little bit worried about the fact that white powder might be suspicious to Custom and airport authorities and are wondering if there would be any chance to get a kind of declaration for Bayer/Schering about the need of treatment to be made also while on vacation to show when passing through the Check in gates.
Looking forward in your kind reply with the occasion we remain and thank you in advance- Reply:
We would advise you to contact a MS-nurse in your country - specialized in Betaferon - and ask her if she can provide you (your wife) with a so called 'medication passport'. This passport has especially been developed for travelling with Betaferon medication. Most ideal would be to have this passport signed by the neurologist/a physician.
We noticed you are from Italy. You could try to order a passport by dialing the following number: 800 - 632 077
Patients from other countries are advised to contact their local MS-nurse or physician.
