Injecting Betaferon® manually
Following you will learn how to prepare your injection site and how to inject your Betaferon solution into the skin. Please ensure that you have completed the preparation process as outlined in the previous chapter of this manual.
The injection process using an autoinjector will be explained in the next chapter of this manual.
Use alcohol wipe to clean the skin at the injection site; leave it to air dry.
Hold the skin gently but firmly around the injection site to raise it up a bit.

Hold the syringe and stick the needle straight into the skin at a 90º angle with a quick, firm motion. Push the needle just below surface of skin.
There are very few nerve endings in the subcutaneous tissue, which makes self-injection in this area relatively painless. It is not like injecting vaccinations into muscle tissue.
Inject the Betaferon® solution by slowly and steadily pushing the plunger all the way in until the syringe is empty. There is no need to rush.
Throw away the syringe and needle into the disposal unit. Keep the unit out of reach of children. Gently massage the injection site with a cotton wool ball or wipe.
