On the move-travel planning

Invest some time in your travel planning.

Time put in before the trip will save unnecessarily long car journeys (and probably a few arguments!). Various Internet sites provide accurate, interactive maps and driving directions, as well as information on the services and products in the area. Streetmap.com provides a complete set of streetmaps on the Internet. YahooMaps will provide door-to-door driving instructions via the shortest route for trips up to 300 miles.

If you are taking the car on your travels, you may want to take Easifuel - a device that helps hold open the trigger on the petrol pump nozzle. It is a lightweight plastic device with a large handle, which doubles up as an ice scraper.

To keep cool in hot weather, slip a hand-held mini-fan in your bag. Or perhaps you would prefer your own personal cooling system. These battery-run systems fit around the neck and have a tiny, quiet, motor-driven fan and aluminium cooling plates that will cool your entire body once filled with water.
