“This disease will not prevent me from doing whatever I have to do. If something happens to me, then I’ll adapt, and keep on living my life.”

Tiago was both surprised and concerned when he began to experience dizziness and hearing loss in his left ear. Shortly thereafter, he visited a specialist, and an MRI confirmed that he had MS.

“My first reaction was to research the disease so I could learn more about it. I didn’t really know what it was, what the symptoms were and what effect it could have. I decided that I would better understand what was happening to me, and I would keep on living my life as usual.” Soon after receiving his diagnosis, Tiago began treatment that would slow down the progression of the disease – giving him hope for a more active future.

Today, he is a graphic and product designer, with an optimistic and positive outlook on life. “Looking to the future, I’ll keep on leading my life as usual. This disease will not prevent me from doing whatever I have to do. If something happens to me, then I’ll adapt, and keep on living my life.”

Tiago is excited to share his story in the hopes that it may help other people with MS to see that life can continue despite the disease. “That is why I am here – to tell people not to give up on life. Do not bury your head in the sand, but try to keep on living as usual.”
